Google has many wonderful apps and the ability to make your own search engine is very handy. You will need a Google account to get started, of course. Then go to http://www.google.com/coop/cse/ or click on the My Account link in the upper right of the page and navigate to Google custom search. Click the link and you will see the Create a Custom Search Button. Click on that button.
Now your page has boxes where you name your search engine, give it a description, select the language you want it in, choose either Only sites I select or The entire web, but emphasize sites I select for custom search (I use the Only sites I select), type or paste in your sites, and choose Standard edition for the free one. Wa-La! click next, and try out your new search engine.
To add sites or edit the engine, just sign in, and got to the Google custom search as in the first paragraph, and click the control panel or the search engine link. This is a great way to put together all those websites you’ve been saving up. Then you can clear your favorites folder and start fresh while still having your old sites in a nice search engine.
